• Class Format

  AOTC offers traditional classroom or blended learning formats (online and classroom) to accommodate various learning preferences and schedule limitations. However, all participants must demonstrate aerial lift rescue training skills in person to ensure they understand the concepts and can execute the techniques.

• Program Goal

  AOTC designed the aerial lift training program to enable training centers and instructors to effectively teach life-saving skills related to MEWP operations and emergency rescues. By completing this training, your company can ensure that its teams have the knowledge and skills to respond confidently in emergencies.

• Class Goal

  The goal of each class is to provide participants with the theoretical and practical skills needed to handle aerial lift rescues safely. The hands-on training and assessments ensure that workers leave with the capability to respond to real-life emergencies.

• Class Audience

  This program is specifically designed for construction, maintenance, and landscaping workers, where MEWP operations are expected. However, any personnel who work at heights or around MEWPs will significantly benefit from the skills taught in this program.

Instructor and Class Structure

The aerial lift rescue training is taught by instructors authorized by the Health & Safety Institute (HSI), who are certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED usage. These knowledgeable instructors bring years of experience to the classroom and ensure that each participant gains confidence in responding to emergencies. 

Alpha-Omega Training and Compliance understands that maintaining an optimal student-to-instructor ratio (SIR) and student-to-equipment ratio (SER) is critical to an effective learning environment. 

To provide focused instruction and ensure safety during practice, the program follows these ratios:

• Recommended SIR: 6:1
• Maximum SIR: 24:1
• Performance Evaluation SIR: 2:1

The availability of Basic Climbing Equipment (BCE) for hands-on practice is essential for skill-building. The program follows these equipment ratios:

• Recommended Ratio: 4:1 BCE
• Maximum Ratio: 6:1

Regardless of class size, AOTC ensures at least one set of BCE for every six participants. Most importantly, evaluations are conducted at a 2:1 SIR, which allows our instructors to thoroughly analyze each participant’s performance and ensure they can adequately execute all techniques.

Aerial Lift Rescue Certification

Achieving aerial lift rescue certification demonstrates a worker’s proficiency in performing safe, efficient rescues on MEWPs. The certification process confirms that participants possess the essential skills to handle emergency rescues in elevated environments. 

OSHA and ANSI Certification

OSHA and ANSI certification is crucial in setting safety benchmarks for your organization. OSHA certification ensures compliance with federal safety standards, which are mandatory across the United States.

ANSI certification addresses industry-specific guidelines that establish best practices for safe MEWP operations. Together, these certifications promote workplace safety and compliance.

Duration and Renewal Requirements

The aerial lift rescue certification typically remains valid for three years. After this period, participants are encouraged to undergo refresher training to stay updated on the latest safety protocols and rescue techniques. This renewal process ensures that certified individuals remain proficient and prepared for emergencies.
