Hazard Communication/GHS Training

Protect Your Workforce With OSHA-Compliant HazCom & GHS Training

Chemical Hazards Aren’t Always Obvious, But the Risks Are Real

Chemical exposure remains a leading cause of workplace illness and injury, often due to overlooked or misunderstood hazards. That’s why Alpha-Omega Training and Compliance, Inc. (AOTC) provides Hazard Communication and GHS training that equips employees to identify, understand, and respond to chemical risks before they escalate. In accordance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), our training connects regulatory requirements to real-world practices, enabling teams across various industries, such as manufacturing, maintenance, and healthcare, to work safely and remain compliant.

About Hazard Communication/GHS Training

HazCom/GHS training helps employees recognize, understand, and safely manage hazardous chemicals in the workplace. Aligned with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), it teaches how to read labels, use Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and communicate risks effectively.

Proper training plays a critical role in preventing chemical-related injuries, reducing liability, and strengthening your organization’s safety culture.

Our Training Program

Designed for employees who work with or around hazardous chemicals, such as custodial staff, lab techs, factory workers, and supervisors, AOTC’s HazCom/GHS training covers essential chemical safety practices.

Topics include:

  • OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard
  • The purpose and importance of GHS
  • GHS labels, pictograms, and signal words
  • Reading Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Safe storage and spill prevention
  • Clear hazard communication procedures

Delivered in plain language with interactive examples, the program ensures that every participant understands how to handle and communicate safely about workplace chemicals.

What to Expect

Our training goes beyond paperwork. It’s about helping your team build absolute confidence in identifying and responding to chemical risks.

Here’s what participants can expect:

  • Instructors with occupational safety and compliance expertise.
  • A 4-hour session covering all required HazCom and GHS topics.
  • Engaging visuals, real-world case studies, and hands-on label analysis.
  • Immediate takeaways for safer work practices.
  • Support for onboarding, annual compliance, or corrective action training.

Regardless of your industry or chemical risk level, our training ensures that employees understand how to communicate and manage hazards effectively.

Our Classes

Our HazCom/GHS training courses are led by experienced, OSHA-compliant instructors specializing in chemical safety and regulatory training. Each session is designed to foster an informative and applicable high-quality learning experience.

We maintain a maximum class size of 20 participants per instructor to support engagement and individualized attention. The total class duration is 4 hours, which includes instruction, group exercises, and Q&A sessions. When performing label analysis and SDS exercises, we reduce the student-to-instructor ratio to ensure that everyone grasps key concepts clearly and confidently.

Participants will leave with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet OSHA standards and apply them effectively in their daily work.

Certifications

Upon completing the course, attendees receive an official Hazard Communication and GHS Training Certificate from AOTC. This certificate documents the training date and confirms compliance with OSHA’s HazCom requirements.

How often is HazCom training required? HazCom training must be provided at the time of initial assignment and whenever a new chemical hazard is introduced into the workplace. Annual refreshers are strongly recommended to reinforce awareness and keep teams up to date with evolving safety procedures.

We also provide Recognition of Participation (ROP) cards for attendees at the awareness level.
